Back to the Drawing Board

York is one of my favourite places to visit. You know those places that only seem beautiful around a particular time of year… like only in Spring for instance? Yeah… well York isn’t one of those places. This quaint little city in the heart of Yorkshire shines (metaphorically speaking) in the height of Summer, or in the snow-white of Winter. Today was a perfect Summers day to be walking around York, Starbucks in-hand, shopping until my feet and bank account couldn’t take anymore.

As you may have noticed, my blog posts have been quite sparse and few and far between over the last several months. I have been going through a very tough transition period since March which has taken up a lot of my attention, time and energy. However, God is good and I know that the best is yet to come.

So, with this blog post I thought I’d get back to my old ways; taking advantage of the beautiful scenery whilst in York and document my day in pictures for you all. This is something that I did a lot of when I first started out blogging, and it’s definitely something that The Truth Diaries has been missing lately. So, here we go! I hope you enjoy! Let me know over on my Instagram (@nickielise) what you’d like to see more of!

In my quest to start the day off well and picturesquely (is that really a word?), my Mam and I decided to hunt down a place for brunch that we both had never step foot in before. The path lead us to find this place: The Drawing Board. Complete with exposed brick walls (my favourite) and rustic interiors (as seen all over my Pinterest account), this was truly a unique find. After perusing the menu, I ordered a latte and omelette with cheese, tomato, spinach and avocado (because what is anything in this life without avo?!). It was delish and a perfect time for a photo-op.

Our first store destination was obviously Zara (if you’re new to the blog or my Instagram, you’ll soon know that Zara is my personal fave). We spent approx 1 hour perusing the shop floor, and a further 2 in the changing rooms… #noshame #sorrymam #myfault. I snapped a couple of mirror-shots of my best-loved AW16 pieces that have made their way to my wardrobe for the coming season.

Further shopping took places in Topshop, Urban Outfitters and H&M followed by a Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte and a walk around the Clifford Tower before getting pizza and heading home.

Love my look of the day? Then make sure you shop my lace overlay top, ripped jeans and fringe sandals below. This top is the perfect transition piece to add to your wardrobe between Summer and Autumn.
