PLAID BABY PLAID

In my opinion, patterned pants are one of the most intimidating pieces to have in your wardrobe. Sure, they’re nice to look at, but who buys a pair of pants just to simply look at them hanging in their closet? Styling a patterned pant is what makes them so intimidating. I’m totally speaking from experience, here. If you’re anything like me, you have no problem falling in love with the pant whilst staring at your reflection in the changing room mirror, constantly turning around to see yourself from every angle. However, the trouble comes when you attempt to mentally scan your wardrobe, desperately trying to think of a top you can pair with the pants. You want to keep it simple, but don’t want to look like you’re playing it safe. Then again, you want to be adventurous, but not overdone, and over-styled… as if too much thought went into the planning of the outfit. After all, simply taking the leap of faith in buying those patterned pants was the wildest thing you’ve done in a while. Been there, done that, bought the pants [literally].

So, what I’ve done is style this patterned pant in four very different ways [each featured in their own post]. I’ve styled the pant for casual wear, I’ll experiment by mixing prints, experiment some more by matching prints, and I also keep it classy and chic for a more sophisticated look. Speaking of, here is the first way I’ve styled the pant. By adding a tight-fitting, off-the-shoulder top by ASOS, the outfit exudes sophistication. To add extra chic points, I’ve featured a bold fuchsia lip, leather jacket, and my cut-out, leather shoes by Zara.

Stay tuned for the second installment of ways to style a patterned pant.
